                  Why do we learn English?

Many pupils think that, they learn English because of the school program. Certainly, it is true. In mane schools in Russia the pupils learn not only English, they also learn German and French. Undoubtedly, we learn languages to become more educated, to know the culture of other countries.

But there are some people, who think that they do not need them in future, and this people do not even try to understand how it is fascinating and interesting!

And why does it happen?

Four years ago I thought that the learning English won’t bring me any special profit. All these rules, tenses, irregular verbs, transcriptions and other important things were for me just like a dark forest. And, perhaps, it wood be and today, but for the one story, which happened with me in October in 2002, when my father both the tickets for the journey to the Turkey.

The Turkish coast just like a dream: many big beaches with the little stones, shells, and small yachts, which sometimes faster then a lightning , the Inconceivable beauty of the color of the sea and a transparent air, submerged towns and the splinters of the ancient civilizations , all this things are the parts of the history, which shows us from round of the every stone …I liked this country so much!

It was our first journey to the foreign country, so I dreamt to get there as faster as it possible. So, when we got to the hotel (it was far from the airport, so we had to go to our hotel about 3 hours, and our guide informed us what we have to do, when we get there), the porter took our things, we came up to the reception. The receptionist told us something in English, but my parents and I didn’t know, what to answer, but we were in lucky, because there were some people, who came from Russia to the Turkey to make a lot of money and to have a good rest. They helped us to decide our problems with the registration. They spoke in English just like it was their native language! I was so shame then, really. I learned English since the first form, and at that moment I was already in sixth form! It was so terrible to know, that all these years I was mistaken, that I won’t need English in future.

Since those times I learn English with a big interest and, you know what? I like it! It’s very fascinating! I just had to understand all the rules and themes and then all things become to clear.

After that amazing journey to the Turkey we went to Egypt, Spain and India.

In Egypt I was surprised by the color of sea. It was like a mixture of the different hues of blue and azure! It was so beautiful, that any words can’t to describe all this magnificent of the nature fascination. There were also many bright fishes and other sea creatures. How it was wonderful to swam near them and to know, that they don’t afraid you at all! I also remember about the imposing Pyramids. They were so high! But something mysterious was there! It was too quiet near them... I wouldn’t like to go into them.

In India I liked an Indian Ocean, beautiful tropical plants, exotic birds, tasty tropical fruits. I saw their temples and even went into them. It’s very interesting! When everybody came up to the entrance of the temple, they were must take off their shoes and then come into the temple. Inside the temple was something like a smell of the fragrance of flowers. When we went out of the temple, we were given flower wreaths ( they were made of bright live flowers), it was a little strange, but it was their tradition and we should to keep up it.

In the Spain I liked «the singing fountain». It was a fountain, which used for only one show so much water, that this quantity of water was sufficient for the whole Barcelona. But what a brilliant show we sow! I thought that I was in a tale and even believed in magic! The point is in the streams of water and lighting, and music of course. When they (people) switched all these things at the same time, it look’s like a dancing water, which has some feelings, emotions and shines just like an aurora borealis!

I want to say, that I am in absolute raptures of this journeys! All these countries are so different. Their traditions, customs, religious are very different, and it makes the journeys for me more attractive!

At last I would like to thank my parents for the possibility to travel and to associate with the foreign people, to learn foreign languages. I understand that not everybody cans permiss to themselves to travel. But, I think, if you have a real wish to learn the languages, go on! And I’d like to address to that people, who don’t want to learn languages: « If you don’t want to learn the languages, you mustn’t do it. But just imagine how many interesting people in the different countries and how it could be useful for you in your future life…I don’t make you to learn English or other languages! I only advise you what really can de useful for you. You can just read my composition and think about my offer. Do your choice by yourself! »
