Everyone must know the rules of the road. They help pedestrians and drivers to keep safe during movement. In many countries they are different. And is there a difference between the traffic rules in Russia and in England, for example? Let's look at the modern rules of the road and learn it… 
The first known attempts to regulate urban traffic were already made in ancient Rome by Gaius Julius Caesar. In his decree(указ) in the 50 year some streets were introduced one-way traffic. From sunrise until the end of "working day" (about two hours before sunset) was denied passage (проезд)of private carriages, chariots and carriages.(карета) Visitors were required to keep their transport outside the city and to Rome on foot, or hire a palanquin.(паланквин-носилки) At the same time established(истэблишд-утверждена) a special office overseeing(контролирующий) the implementation(имплимэнтэйшн—введение) of these rules, it recruited mostly of ex-firemen…

The main feature of the road in Great Britain that it is left side. So, the motion in the opposite direction in Russia for example overtake (обгон)on the right is allowed and the steering (рулевое)wheel in the car is on the right.

PEDESTRIANS

Must ride a bike along the road at the age of 14 and older 
 
Must go across the road when the light is green 
 
Must keep to the right when on the road 
 
Bikers mustn’t:

ride a bike along the road if younger than 14 
 
cross the road if the light is red or yellow 
 
ride a bike using no hands 
 
ride a bike along pavements 
 
PASSENGERS: 
 
Must get on and off the transport at the stops 
 
Must buy a tickets 
 
Must follow the driver`s instructions 
 
Must give up seats to old people, to people with children and invalids

There are many of transport in a streets. We must know and follow the traffic rules, because it help us to keep safe on the streets, and use the transport correctly.
