Russia

My country, Russia is one of the largest states in the world. It is located on the continent Eurasia. Its territory is over 18 million sq.kilometers. The population is about 150 million people.

Russia borders on fourteen countries including the former republics of the USSR. The country is washed by  the Arctic Ocean and its 6 seas: the Barents, Chukchee , Kara, laptev as Azov, Caspian, Boltic sesas and so on.

The largest river is the Volga. The longest Siberian Rivers are Ob, the Lena and the Yenisey. The three largest lakes in Russia are the Baikal, the Ladoga, and the Onega.

The relief of Russia is mostly flat. There are three main mountain chains in Russia: the Coucasus, the Urals, the Altai Mountains.

The climate in our country is various in different parts of it. Russia is rich in mineral recourses: coal, oil, natural gas, iron ore, gold and others (авез).

According to the Constitution Russia is a Presidential Republic. The Federal government consists of three branches: legislative, executive and judicial.

The legislative power is represented by the Federal Assembly. The executive power belongs the Prime Minister. The judicial power is represented by different courts.

The stats symbol of Russia is a three colored-banner with three horizontal stripes: white, blue and red.

The national Emblem is a two headed eagle which the most ancient symbol of Russia.

Russian is the State language of Russia. The capital of Russia is Moscow.

I’m a second year student. I am faking a different term as we’re going to study some special subjects, that is money, credit, bank, marketing and others.

The study gets harder each year and  I have to spend a lot of time getting ready for seminars and labs. Summer we’ll be taking a professional training. I’m looking forward to getting down to my major, Economics and Management faculty. The faculty where I study, that is the Economics and Management faculty, has well-equipped lecture rooms, computer class rooms and laboratories.

In the 5 year we are to submit a graduation paper. So, according to our major we’ll be able to work as economics in banks, tax inspectors and big company.

I study at Uchta State University, with was founded in 1967. In 1999 it become a University.

The number of boys and girls who wish to enter the University is very high. This shows the University’s growing popularity and prestige. The University trains engineers whose profession embraces many fields, for example oil, gas, timber industries, ets. The Rector is at the head of the University. The University consists of 8 Faculties, headed by Deans.

The University’s academic staff is highly qualified; Masters of science and professors deliver lectures for our students. They not only give lectures, but also take seminars and have tutorials with the students, examine the students during the examination period and supervise the students’ research work.

The students of each Faculty have a five-year course of studies, during which they learn a lot of different subjects. Students have to take examinations and tests. Students of our University may go in for sports and take part in amateur activities.

The Academic year lasts from September to June and is divided into 2 terms.

Ukhta

Ukhta is situated in the central part of the komi republic to the republic to the north-east of Syktyvkar the capital. It borders on the town of sosnogorsk and some regions of our republic. The population of ukhta and its about 125000 people.

The climate of ukhta is continental. Ukhta is situated on a hilly plateau split by the rivers ukhta, sedyu, tobys, kedva. The territory is covered by coniferous forests with spruces and pines prevailing.

Ukhta is rich in mineral resources including deposits of oil, gas, ferrous and non-terrous metals reserves of titanium,bauxite.

Ukhta was known long ago. There was a small settlement called chibyu with a dozen streets and wooden houses. Only in 1943 the settlement got the status of a town.

It is a modern town with plenty of well-equipped enterprises and great scientific and educational potential. There are a lot of enterprises in the town, such as the ukhta oil refinery, severgasprom company, northen oil mains.

Ukhta is a town of students. In our town there is the only in the komi republic ukhta state technical university. Today ukhta is a beautiful city with multi-storied buildings, squares, monuments and parks. There are some interesting and valuable museums: the museum of the town history, the biological museum and the geological museum.

Ukhta is my native place. And I think it is very nice.

Великобритания(UK)

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland occupies most of the territory of the British Isles. It consists of four main parts which are: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Their capitals are London, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast.

The UK is situated to the northwest from Europe and is separated from it by the English Channel and the Strait of Dove.

The population of the United Kingdom is nearly 59 million people.

English is the official language.

The flag of the United Kingdom, known as the Union Jack, is made up of three crosses: the red diagonal, the white diagonal and the upright red one.

The largest cities of Great Britain are: London, Birmingham, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, Bristol, and Edinburgh.

Geographically, the island of Great Britain is subdivided into two main regions: Lowland Britain and Highland Britain. Lowland Britain comprises most of England. Highland Britain consists of Scotland, ghost of Wales, the Pennine Mountains, and the Lake District.

The chief rivers of Great Britain are: the Severn, the Avon, the Tweed, and the Thames. There are many takes.

The climate in the UK is mild and damp.

Great Britan is a perliamentary monarchy. The UK is a parliamentary monarchy. The British Parlament consist of two Hauses: the House of Lords and the House of Commons. The Prime Minister is the head of the government. There are two political parties of UK the Liberal Party, the Conservative Party.

США

The USA is a federal democratic republic on the continent north America. The flag is called “The Stars and Stripes”. The notional symbol of America is the bold eagle.

The capital of the country is Washington. The population is 300 million people.

The USA borders on Canada in the north, Mexico in the south, it also has a sea border with Russia.

The country is washed by the Atlantic ocean in the east, by the Pacific Ocean in the west and by the Gulf of Mexico in the south. The relief of the country is varied. There are lowlands and highlands in the USA. Mount McKinley  is the highest point, the lowlest point is the Death Valley.

Along the Pacific coast there is a system of mountains: the Cordillera Mountains, the Rocky Mountains, and the Sierra-Nevada Mountains.

The main rivers are the Columbia river, The Colorado river, the Rio Grande river, the Missouri river end the Mississippi river.

The Great  Lakes of the USA are the deepest and the largest. They are Huron, Ontario, Michigan, Erie and Superior. There are many sities: the New York, Chicago, Philadelphia and авез.  The USA is rich in natural resources: oil, gas and coal.

The Komi Republic

We live in the Komi Republic which is situated in the north-east of European part of Russia. In the north, north-west and west our Republic borders on the Archangels region, in the east it borders on the Tumen and Sverdlovsk regions, in the south-west there are the Kirov and Perm regions.

The republic is famous for its unique nature and natural wealth, and animals such as foxes, hares, squirrels, sables, martens, polar foxes etc.

The climate here is continental with long and rather severe winters and short and cool summers.

The main rivers of the republic are the Pechora, the Vychegda and the Mezen which are navigable in summer and play an important role in the republic’s economy.

This land is rich in mineral recourses and timber. Coal, oil, natural gas, titanium, bauxites alongside with timber created a highly developed industry in the republic.

Komi is a cosmopolitan republic. More than 100 nationalities live here, among them the Russians, the Belorussians, the Ukrains, the Uzbeks, the Tatars, the Armenians, the Azerbaijanians and others.

The population of the republic is about 1 186 000. Syktyvkar is a capital of the Komi republic. Syktyvkar is a big industrial town.

The government of the Komi Republic consists of three branches: legislative, executive and judicial. The leader of the republic is the Head, who elected by a popular vote for 4 years.

My family

I am Ira Terenteva. Ira is my first name and Terenteva is my surname. I am eightin years old. I have got a mother, a sister, a brother. There are 4 of us in the family.

My mother is a pleasant-looking woman of 45. She is very good at cooking and she is clever with her hands. Mother is an economist and she works at a казначество.

My sister is a lovely sweet girl, intellectual and well bred. She’s a student.

My brother is the elder son the family. He is a schoolboy. He’s good at moths  and physics and is interested in computers. He is going to be a computer programmer.

As for me. I am a student, a future economist. I study at the faculty of Economies s Management. My speciality is Financi s Credit.
