A short direction to avoid dejection.

Learn well your grammar and never stammer,

Write well and neatly , and sing most sweetly,

Be enterprising, love early rising,

Go walk of six miles, have ready quick smiles,

With light some laughter, soft flowing after,

Drink tea, not coffee, never eat toffee.

Eat bread with butter, and never stutter.

Don't waste your money, abstain from honey.

Приложение  №2

One, two, three let me see

Who likes coffee and who likes tea?

One, two, three, oh I see

You like coffee and you like tea!

Приложение  №3

Tommy Trot a man of law.

Sold his bed and lay upon straw.

Sold the straw and slept on grass

To buy his wife a looking glass.

Santa Claus

For English children Christmas means Santa Claus. Here is an account of how this saint came to play such an important part of festivities,

The two words "Santa Claus" conjure up for us the whole spirit of Christmas. We picture him, a jolly old gentleman with his white whiskers and his rosy cheeks, dressed in his fur-trimmed coat and hood and driving his reindeer team through the skies with merry cracks of his whip.

But when we stop to inquire what lies behind this happy picture, we find some very curious things. To begin with, Saint Nicolas - that was his name to start with - is about the most overworked saint who ever existed. He is the national saint of Russia and Greece, and the patron saint of many European cities and churches named after him can be numbered in thousands - there are more than 400 in great Britain alone.

If one started to list all the groups of people who look on him as their judges, murderers, pawnbrokers, thieves and sailors. He is known as the friend and protector of all those in trouble.

The legends about him are legion. Sailors own him as their particular saint because he is said often to have appeared to them during violent storms and saved their lives. Sick children have been brought back to health through his influence. Perhaps the most famous story of all tells how he helped three unfortunate young sisters who all had suitors, but were unable to marry because their father, a poor man, couldn't raise the money for their dowries, without which marriage was impossible in those days.

And that is how the serious, stately saint of the fourth century became the homely, well-loved figure whom every child rejoices to meet in the shops at Christmas, and whom many of them half expect to come down the chimney at night to fill the stockings which they have hopefully hung ready for him, a hope which is rarely disappointed.
